Christmas Day 2008

So Richard is gone taking Jonathan back to his Mom for their Christmas celebrations so I am taking the opportunituy to update today. I probably won't update again until Grandma and Grandpa come for their visit in a few days. WaHoo!! We can't wait!!

It was a very special day. Jansen woke up in a great mood, as usual, and Jonathan of course was full of excitement! What fun we've had! The boys got to play with new toys and Jonathan got more movies to watch in our commutes. Jansen will be less naked and Jonathan now has more books to read since the other ones were nearly memorized I think!! =-P

Richard and I are going to enjoy a night on the town, get some trees to landscape the yard, and then some groceries too!! WaHoo!! Maybe we can score some free babysitting when Gram and Gramp are here for that night on the town!! Hee-Hee!!

I baked my very first pecan pie, but we haven't tried it yet!! Since Richard and I decided to forgo giving each other gifts this year I wanted to bake him his favorite pie. Pray that it turned out well!! Lately I'm hit and miss on the baking... not for lack of trying though!! It is the holidays after all.

Tonight we are going to watch A Tuna Christmas when Richard gets back. If you aren't familiar with it, it is a sequel to Greater Tuna (super funny stage production) and I was so excited when he brought a copy that someone from work lent him of A Tuna Christmas. I didn't know that any of them were on video... What a treat!! It will be a great way to close out our Christmas Day!!

Our First Christmas Morning!!

This is our very first picture of our very first Christmas!! We are wearing the sleep sack from Cousin Naarah!! It says, "First Christmas" under a tree and a little bear on it! He's such a happy waker-upper that it's hard not to catch that spirit with him!! What a perfect way to start our day!

Playing before presents

We had just gotten off the phone with Grandma Valerie. Jansen got dressed for the day. Then the boys were waking up (playing) before opening presents!!

Jansen is soooo happy to be celebrating Jesus' birth for the first time! I guess the playtime with Daddy and Jonathan was a fun bonus!

A Christmas Haul

So for the first Christmas I'd say Jansen came out more than spoiled!! Here he is with his haul! He's also happy about it too, as you can see! I missed getting Jonathan and his before he and Daddy had to leave to get him back for Christmas tonight with his mom's side, but he was fully covered as well!

Reindeer Gear

Aunt Burnie and Uncle Rhet hooked us up with the Reindeer Gear this year!! From slippers to huggables, we are reindeered up and totally adorable today!! There are snowmen, candy canes, stockings, and of course reindeer on the outfit. It then says, "My first Christmas" under the stocking on his chest.

End of the Day

So even with a 3 hour nap, our first Christmas celebrant was knocked out again by 6:15!! All the excitement and stimulation was exhausting I guess!! He fell unto what his Auntie calls another milk coma!

Whew!!

I have a brief moment during this catnap to post really quick!!! Jansen has his first cold and has been very clingy this weekend. It started Saturday and I have had to sleep with him propped on his side next to me or upright on my chest so that the poor little guy can breathe!! At the moment he's knocked out on my lap so I'll see what I can get done!

Yesterday Ann came over and helped me go through "stuff." We ended up with 8 bags and a couple of boxes. The purge was way overdue, but I needed the moral support to get it done! We found that I may just be a packrat. I will say that I did do some purging in August, but needed help with the last of it!! I can't even say how appreciative I am for her giving up her day off to get me organized instead of playing with her own little one since she too just went back to work after her maternity leave.

We are looking forward to our first Christmas with Jansen!!

Christmas outfits... the home photo shoot!!

So we have some really cute holiday outfits!! These are the ones we've been wearing this season. We still have a few more, but those are for tonight and tomorrow so you'll see those later!


We have a pic in this one already, but it says "Santa Express, Please deliver by December 24." It's one of our few sweatshirts so it has been worn a few times in this weird weather!

"Dear Santa, I can explain!" How true is this one this week.... colds are aweful!!

I had to get a shot of the socks that are causing such a stir lately!! They are reindeer with pom-pom noses and then you can see the little tail sticking out the back!! He has them in red and green!! Thanks Grandma Vicki... These have gotten so much attention!!

Future NBA Star?

We're nearly sitting up alone already!! I had to catch him in these little work-out pants before he grows out of them!! I am still tickled by some of the clothes they make for babies!! Work-out pants? How cute is that?!?!

Playstation fun!!

So Christmas break started with Jansen waking Saturday with his first cold... and it's a nasty one too. He's starting out like his Mommy. I spent every early Christmas I can remember sick.... sorry son that you got those genes.

Here the boys are watching Daddy on the playstation, or at least they were until I pulled out the camera!! All 4 were facing the TV screen watching the action until they noticed me and the spell was broken... oh well, still a fun shot of them all!

Nearly to break!!

" So Mom keeps telling me a break is coming... I'm sooooo ready for that!!"

Pea in a Pod

So this was just today. The weather has been sooooo odd!! On Sunday we had a record high of 81. By 10 that night it was 18!! Now this is our little pea in a pod all bundled up for this cold snap we are in! It is supposed to warm up this weekend. We'll see if we need shorts or snowpants by Christmas Day!!

This was also the first weekend we tried Jansen in the car to take Jonathan back to his mom's. The whole ride down (2 1/2 hours) he slept. I mean he was knocked out sleeping!! We stopped to meet Jonathan's grandmother and visit a little more. Then he screamed for 1 hour and 45 minutes of the 2 1/2 hours back!! The only time he was content is if I was in the backseat with him, shushing the whole time (and loudly enough that he could hear me over the radio that Richard had to have turned up to drown him out so HE didn't go crazy and run us off the road!), AND I had to have the portable DVD player showing any video so he could see the moving pictures. Then he FINALLY fell asleep again about 20 minutes from home!! Whew!! It will be a little while before we go more than a couple of hours at a time with this little guy in the car I guess!!

We have had a cranky few days!! The little man here has decided that he wants to be held ALL THE TIME!! He seems to especially want to drive Grace (our sitter) crazy! I did however get a happy shot in his little "Santa Express" outfit. I guess during this phase we'll have to snap them when we can!

Penguin Suit

We got this super cute outfit from our Great Auntie's on their latest sister's trip!!! Whenever I tried to take a picture though, it bunched up in his face!!

Finally we get one where we can see the shirt and Jansen's face!!

4 months and sassy as can be!

We were trying to get a good vid of Jansen talking with us for the 4 month shots but he has had CRANKY day. I guess it's good for everyone to see it's not all peaches and cream some days! Usually he LOVES this high chair and we sit and talk for a very long time! He does sit in it and visit with me while I'm cooking pretty much every day. It is usually the place we can put him to content him if he's extra cranky. Today is definately an exception, but thank you Barry and Diane for this gift. It has been awesome!!

The 4 month mark has brought us to extreme drooling, cranky evenings, and Mommy & Daddy with the sniffles. Jansen gets the humidifier so I think he's fairing that part well, but WE are sneezing and using the tissues up!!

I'm 4 months old!!!!!

"Yeah!!!" - Still working on the whole clapping thing, but this is close!

"Remember that picture when my dragon was bigger than me... He's got nothing on me now that I'm a whopping 4 months!! I even have him in a neck hold. I am the dragon tamer!!!"

From Mommy....

I can't believe my baby is 4 months today!! Though I am so excited and ready for Grandma and Grandpa to come at the end of the month, I am saying "SLOW DOWN" to my little guy at the same time! So much is happening everyday that I don't even have a chance to savor it all before another month has past!! Thank God for cameras!!

We have started brushing Jansen's gums with the fingerbrush thingy!! It is so funny... he usually giggles all the way through it. We tried to get him giggling, but he got distracted by the camera! He's still cute so we'll put it in here!

Happy Baby Talking!

Jansen loves to talk at dinner!! He will coo and laugh the whole time to participate (or take over) dinner conversation! It's one of the funnest parts of the day!! I'm a little frustrated and will keep trying, but whenever we get the camera out when he's talking at dinner he gets cranky instead!! I think he's on to us!

It has been quite a week. Little man has reached a phase where he doesn't go to sleep easily. I really hope this phase is short!!! Our evenings have become quite the crank-fest! The weather is crazy. Mornings are chilly, but then the afternoons are 70's. Nearly impossible to dress myself let alone a tiny one to meet the fluctuations! We did have a chilly day all the way start to finish so we got to wear the cute outfit Grandma sent with the matching hat!

We should have Jonathan pics this weekend too, BUT he got an ear infection so he didn't come this weekend. =-( We're hoping we'll get some next weekend! He's feeling better as of Saturday, hopefully he'll still be well next weekend so he can come!
