Baptism Weekend

Today was Jansen's baptism. Most of this week was prep for the big day. Randall came in on Wednesday to visit a bit before Sunday. Richard was hard at work this week and still managed some quality time with Randall while he was here. I was amid the end of another grading period so it was crazy for me, especially since I got this wild hair about Tuesday to make Jansen's baptism outfit as well as his cake!! Am I insane?!?! It was all worth it. What a spectacular day we had. We missed the presence of many family and friends, but felt your thoughts and prayers with us!! Thank you and we love you!!

Finally home and ready to rest

We have arrived home and Little Man has had a total of 45 minutes of napping since 7:00 this morning. He's dog tired, but still about as adorable as you can get!

Already to take off his Baptism suit. I designed and made his suit for him. I didn't have any patterns of what I wanted and couldn't find anything, so I just whipped one up myself. I think he looked rather dapper today!!

Tongue out... what more can I say. What a way to end such a great day, but with humor!! He giggled right after I snapped this, by the way!

Playing with Chuck and Laura

After the service we all went back to Laura and Chuck's for a light lunch and cake to celebrate. They were playing so I caught some pictures of them hanging out!

Jonathan and Randall playing

Jonathan couldn't go to Laura's for the reception since they had a long drive home yet, so he and Uncle Randall were goofing around a little before his mom came to get him!!

The main event

Father Hoa Nguyen baptized Jansen on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009. It was a really beautiful day for us!

Laura and Randall are his Godparents. We are so blessed!!

Fairy Godmother: Laura with newly baptized Jansen Locke.

And... Godfather Randall with newly baptized Jansen Locke!

Jonathan and Jansen by the baptismal fount. I love this pic!!

The cake

So, I did his cake all by myself... well, with Jonathan's company for a while. I thought it came out pretty darn good if I'm aloud to say that!

Another shot of the cake.

Jansen with his cake. He kept trying to kick it!! It was pretty darn funny!

Mr. Cutie Pie sitting with his cake.

We moved him to a different angle to see if he'd stop kicking it, but instead he tried to stretch out to use it as a foot rest!

The big day arrives

I was showing Jansen his cake, but he was more interested in his big brother!

Jonathan got to come!!

Big brother arrives!!! WaHoo!!

Daddy Duty

I had to grade papers on Friday night. It just so happens that Baptism weekend was the ending of a grading period, so I had to get it done. It was also the same grading period that I had to do essay tests so it was REALLY INVOLVED to grade this time. I was up until 3 am Saturday finishing, so Daddy got up with Jansen (even though he hung on grading with me until midnight) on Saturday morning so I could sleep in a little. They played with the caterpillar during tummy time!
Tummy Time!

Look at my grown up profile!

The tongue has become its own toy! Daddy finally got a pic of him playing with it out. He's been like a little lizard testing the air until the camera comes out, then he pops it back in and laughs at us instead!! Yeah Daddy for the quick work!!

Discovering what all the buttons do!

Randall meets his Godson

Jansen and Randall meet. Jansen was sleeping when Randall came in and then Randall was sleeping when Jansen left in the morning so when I got home that afternoon with him, Randall was waiting to snatch him up right as I got him out of the carseat!!

Bonding time.... snuggling and the computer. Two of Jansen's favorites!

Valentine's Week

So this week has flown by. I have meetings all day tomorrow, but no students. Richard has a few things to do, but is "officially" off, so he's got to take Jonathan back tomorrow.

Jonathan and Richard both agreed to be my Valentine when I cooked an extra special dinner Saturday (Baked Ham, Corn Muffins, Green Salad) and of course "the" cake! Jansen was my Valentine whether he wanted to be or not since I put him in a top that stated such! I guess he'll get to choose for himself by next year so I better be good until then!

We are looking at starting Jansen on his #2 baby foods this next week so we had to stock up this weekend when we got groceries. This means we will be introducing meats now too. All this just in time for Uncle Randall's visit. Think Mommy can convince Uncle Randall it's his turn to change some diapers? I didn't think so either, but it was worth a thought, right?!?!

Not too much else to report since it was only a few days ago that I blogged. Just wanted to try to get back on schedule!

Jonathan

I couldn't believe it!! I actually got some pics of Jonathan in something other than his Superman/SpongeBob jammie combo!! I usually can only catch him first thing in the morning. I snuck these this weekend though!

Our own John Deere advertiser ready for bed Sunday night!

Did I mention his 2 favorite things are John Deere and the Playstation?

Wrestling with the Codester... They are quite funny together!

Cody gets so excited when Jonathan is here. He finally has a wrestle buddy! He's so great with him and Jonathan seems to like to rough house with him. Cody knows exactly who he's playing with and takes it easy on Jonathan. I really don't think we could have asked for a better knothead... I mean dog for the boys!!

Bro TIme

Jonathan has a hard time figuring out what to "say" to a baby who doesn't actually say words back. We found that a great bonding tool is for him to read to Jansen. I think they both LOVED it!!

Notice how close they got by the second book AND how enthralled Jansen is in Jonathan's reading. It was AWESOME to see!!!

Mommy's Little Valentine

Jansen got a onsie that says "Mommy's Little Valentine" so I had to get a couple of shots of him in it! He was holding a shell rose too. He was rather captivated by it!

"Hmmmm.... is it as tasty as it is pretty?"

Must be pretty darn yummy the way he's trying to devour it with a cake sitting right next to him!

"The" cake!

So I was trying to decide if I was talented enough to attempt to make Jansen's baptism cake next weekend. I think I'm going to give it a go. I did however practice this weekend with a mini-cake for Valentine's Day.

I've been slacking!

Richard reminded me tonight that I have been slacking. I said I'd try to update weekly and it's been a week and a half, yet again!!

Well, Jansen is now 6 months old and we had our 6 mo. doc appt on Monday. He's 15 pounds, 3 ounces (10th percentile) and 26 inches (near average). He's happy and healthy, aside from his reaction to his shots this week. We are now into a fairly regular routine, though it's taken 6 months to get there it seems! Mommy gets up and gets ready at 4:30, Jansen gets dressed and fed at 5:30. Mommy then goes to work and Daddy gets up and takes Jansen to the sitters when he goes to work. At the sitters, Jansen is now eating cereal in the morning and fruit/veggies for lunch. He has fruit/veggies for dinner at about 4:30(he still gets his milk too through out everything). We have bath time about 6:30 and bedtime at 7. He takes good naps during the day usually. I'm kind of scared to have another because I know my mother cursed me with the "I hope you have a kid just like you someday" and I never slept. Since Jansen does so good with that the curse must just be holding out for #2!

I tried to start running again to get back in shape, but I guess I'll have to hold off on that and just walk until we are done Breastfeeding. OUCH!!! I was so confident of our new and "pretty established" routine that I figured I could go run from 7:15 to 7:45ish, but learned tonight that isn't in the cards for now. I'll have to stick to walking and rather than the weight melting off, it will have to trickle off little by little until the end of the summer. Boo-hoo!! I'm not giving up though!!

Richard is busy as ever, they keep dropping the cases he's just prepped so it seems he's in contant prep mode this week!! Hopefully they'll get back on track so he can keep up without stress soon!!

We are also looking forward to Randall coming Wednesday for Jansen's baptism on the 22nd!! Then after that we will start getting all geared up for our trip to Trinidad for spring break!! We had to get Jansen a passport. What a riot that picture turned out to be!! He was mad that he had to wake up to get the pic so he's scowling... big time!! Definitely a keeper for when he's older!!

Much love to you all!! I'm off to bed now that I've caught up and won't get in trouble!! ;-D

Sick Day

Thursday Mommy stayed home with Jansen. Our sitter was out of town and his shots were making him really cranky, a few nasty diapers and so to be safe Mommy stayed instead of finding a stranger (to him) to stay with. Daddy's taking the Friday shift! We did have a few moments of restfulness and a couple of smiles. Jansen has, however, taken to closing his eyes for pictures these last couple of days so ones without his eyes closed are few and far between for the moment!

6 months old

Jansen turned 6 months on Sat. Feb. 7th. Laura (his Godmother) and Chuck came out for dinner and snuggles!!

When do I get bubbles!

Still loving bath time!! He's so big now though that he pretty much sits by himself with only a little support in there to scrub up and rinse off! It looks like Daddy has quite a hold at the moment, but usually he tries to do it all himself!

Disney World here we come

...in a few years!! Just getting geared up for our turn with the new onsie from Gram and Tater-bug on their trip!!

Odd week!

This turned out to be a strange week. Richard and Jansen had a bonding day Monday. Richard thought the roads were going to be bad so he kept Jansen instead of battling the overpasses to take him to Grace's. Turns out it was fine, but he was already docked a day so he stayed with him and just enjoyed being together. Then late that night into early the next morning we had an ice storm so everything was shut down. No school for me, no work for Richard. We all hung out together at home. Wednesday was another day off, except Richard went in anyway for a few hours later in the morning. It was especially crazy since the Wednesday and Thursday of the previous week it was 81 and then 85!!! To hit freezing to the point of an ice storm 7 days later was wild! We've levelled off some now at 50's and 60's. We'll see how long it lasts this time! Two days of cancelled rehearsals for me means extra work now though. Bummer! The kids at the school were so elated for a couple of days even though they couldn't really do anything on their days off, except now they are realizing they won't get the nice days off built into the schedule in the spring when it's nice.

Jonathan was here this weekend and is apparently addicted to the Playstation so I had to beg pictures from him and then snuck the video this weekend. He and Richard did some visiting of friends they hadn't seen in a while and Jansen and I chilled at home Saturday night. All in all... a pretty darn good weekend.

Oh yeah, Richard and I got our trees (acorns) almost all planted. We only have 12 left. We planted over 150 so far. I just pray that with all that work at least a couple take!!

Yelling

Jansen is doing more noises than just fake coughing. He is also discovering yelling for no apparent reason other than to hear himself. Again... loudly! He also is practicing his zerberts, but I haven't been able to catch that one very good yet. Watch out "Zerbert Man" you have competition when I can catch that one!! Here is a sample of what we hear ALL DAY when he is awake!!

Sigmund

Jansen has discovered his stuffed animals some. He can actually hold them himself and reaches for them now! Here he is with Sigmund, his dragon from Christmas!
