Week of 3/31

So this week was REALLY busy! Jansen is sitting quite steadily on his own now, and LOVES to stand with support. He just refuses to crawl or even try. Grace has him on his tummy and trying, but he just doesn't seem to care. We're tempting him with toys out of reach and everything! Maybe it has to do with how cruddy he's felt lately. Jansen was still feeling rotten to start the week. We visited the doctor and got some decongestant on Monday. I took the first half of the day, Richard the second. The darn fever was a lingerer this time. By Tuesday the fever was gone and the snotty nose was beginning to clear (though there was soooo much it took a few days). By Thursday he was a happy camper again, but I was in the middle of my competition week for my One-Act Play with my students. We had before school AND evening practices Mon. & Tues. (remember all while Jansen was sick and not sleeping), only had morning on Wed. (but that was the day we went to the contest site to rehearse) and then had our performance on Thurs. Grace kept Jansen until Richard got off from work and I didn't get home until after 10 that night because of the contest. Whew! I was so tired by the time I got home!! My students didn't place, but the DID have the best characterization they had ever had that day!! One of my students that just joined the cast 3 weeks ago, was a girl playing a guy, had 30 pages of script to memorize, was on-stage the entire show, AND had never been on stage before got a recognition award!! WaHoo!! I was really proud of her, and all of them!! Richard played catch up some the rest of the week for having to miss half of Monday, but then got to go to Dallas and hang out with friends for a birthday bash. I cleaned the house until 2:30 am that night. I don't sleep well when he's gone, but I do know we need to do things apart from each other now and then!! =-) I can just imagine how he is when I was gone for my week-at-a-time work ventures in the past few summers. We're getting to be like those other couples that have been together for a while and function like a cog has slipped in our clockwork when the other is gone, I think.

Jonathan is preparing for another round of standardized tests coming up in a couple of weeks. I don't know whose more nervous, us or him. We have been working math when he's been at our house and will hit it again this coming weekend. Can't they give kids a little bit of a break! Sheesh!! He also spent a little more time OFF of the Playstation the last time he was here, so I did get a couple of pics without the controller in his hand! I hope that momentum lasts!! I really can't stand that thing when we can't pry him off of it!!

Do you make Jonathan earn time on the play station? My friend Jenny makes David earn time on the PS2. He needs to read for so long to earn like 15min. Sometimes he reads for hours just to earn like an hour or 2 on the PS2. Just a thought. My kids are really good about getting off when told and they have other things to do. NJ is another story. We have had to work with him lately.
