Breathing a little easier
Well, my One-Act Play went up on Thursday and we did not advance to Area so I am finished with that for the year. We tried some new things this year and some worked while others did not. The really nice thing is that I will get a good chunk of those kids back next year to continue building with. It is bittersweet to acknowledge that though because it means that the first student that I've had in my competition one act from 7th grade through 12th grade will not be with me next year. 6 years of working with someone at such a vital time in their own development is such a special blessing that it will be hard to think of shows for next year and not automatically think she'll be a part of it again! I just may cry at my first graduation ceremony as a teacher since I started teaching high schoolers 7 years ago since this will be the first time to graduate students that have been in my classes and programs their entire Junior High and High School careers. I have 7th and 8th grade classes and then 4 levels of high school classes and TWO students have gone through every one with me this year. I'm not usually anything but excited for the graduates as they move on to the next chapter of their lives, and let me tell you I've had some very fantastic young people that I've been blessed to have in my classes/programs through these years, but I didn't feel like I practically raised them because I didn't have them for a whole HALF of their school years like these two this year!
Grocery List
Well, I was trying to figure out my bank account before heading out to get some groceries today. I didn't think too much of Jansen having the pen and grocery list pad because he watches EVERYTHING I do like a hawk and imitates it all. I know this is part of normal development so I just made sure the cap was on the pen tight and let him play around with them like I usually do. I mean... he was sitting right on my lap and everything, well until I took the pictures that is.
He now can get the cap off of the pen apparently and began making his own grocery list. It started on the paper, but soon that wasn't good enough and he started making the notes on his legs!! When I asked him where the grocery list was he recapped the pen and proudly pointed to his legs! I had to share our first ink pen adventure with you!

As you can see... the paper list had been abandoned much earlier than the leg one!
Final Day of Spring Break: Friday March 26th
I know this is out of sequence, but I didn't want to skip it. It was part of our diary of our spring break this year!!
Both of the boys needed haircuts so on the Friday of Spring Break we went for them. We also went to the park and took Zoey to the vet for her shots, but this was the MUST do of the day. I found a place that does the toddler cuts in chairs that look like cars and are supposed to specialize in childrens' haircuts. The place was really cool and the boys cuts turned out nice, but for a place that caters to kids, the entire staff was really grumpy! I'd think that they'd want to be chipper and pleasant to the little ones, but they were ALL stone faced and though not rude, simply unfriendly. I hope it was just an off day for them, but it seemed that not a single one of the 5 people we saw working wanted to be there that day!
Anyway...

Jansen doing quite well in his little car for the second EVER haircut. I didn't even hold him this time, but I wasn't allowed to step very far away or he got upset, thus all of the pics I got of Jonathan are far away (he was at a station a ways away from us though in my view) or when he was nearly done.

They had video games for the older kids to play while getting their hair cut. Jonathan is engrossed, not unlike if we'd been at home!! :oD

The stylist is done, but Jonathan can't tear himself from the game quite yet! I'm pretty sure he was winning!

My dates for the day looking all handsome!
Pre-Easter Dinner
I explained in the next post our Easter weekend, but I forgot that it will come AFTER this one when you all read it! Sorry!!
The night before Easter we went to eat at a Mexican restaurant. It was quite tasty and since we fasted Friday it was all the more scrumptious to go out and eat on Saturday night!

Mine and Jansen's dinner. Jansen really did make quite a dent in it with me, but we still couldn't finish it, even together!

Richard's Fried Taco thingys with Gi-normous Shrimp!
Happy Easter!!!
We spent Saturday in DFW. Richard had a friend's birthday party to go to that night and I was getting pretty stir crazy since we haven't done much traveling since June and we stayed home the entire spring break this year! I had off both Friday and today so we decided to make Saturday a family day and head to DFW early. We went to IKEA for my first time ever and for someone who is definitely not a shopper, I think I'm in love! They had some really great deals and I didn't have to search to hard to find them! We got Jansen his first potty chair too, so it's time to start getting him used to that. No hard-core training yet, but at least he'll get familiar with the thing before it's time to start the teaching part!
We stayed in the Historic Hilton, which is the hotel that Jackie and JFK stayed in the night before his assassination. I didn't realize it was the same place until I read it in the hotel info sheets, even though I've spent several summers teaching the assassination and touring the 6th Floor Museum with oodles of kiddos. The name has changed so I guess that is my excuse, but it was kind of like feeling a piece of history right there when I realized where we were.
We also ate some yummy food and just had a nice relaxing time. Jansen and I stayed in the hotel while RIchard went to his get together. I'd like to say we went to bed early, but Little Man was wound UP and all over the place. Instead we danced and did some spinning in circles and jumped on the bed until 11 when I FINALLY got him to relax and fall asleep!
We got up the next morning and went to the church that is the head of our diocese for the Easter Celebration Mass. It was a beautiful church, and PACKED!!
Then I just had to get some pics of Jansen in the Easter suit. He slept all the way through church, but was full of energy when we got to the car and had to drive back home!

Havin' fun!!
Jansen Singing
Oh Geez... this is so darned adorable!! You'll have to excuse me in this, it was house cleaning and laundry day, but Daddy still got a shot of me when he was filming Jansen AND I'm no singer, EEEKK!!
Here's the back story...
Jansen has been saying "Ba" for ball, even though I know he can say 'L's' so I started making the 'L' sound repeatedly so that he'd copy me. It turned into doing that part of the chorus from "Loving You" and there is NO WAY I can do the high part so we just kind of screech together on that part, but he usually sings with me for the majority of it! He even starts it himself sometimes! It's so cute! He also picked up "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga from a TV thing. He'll randomly start doing part of that song as well. For the camera I had to prompt him, but he started it this round.
Today we were on the phone with G-Pop when the song came on the radio. I was chatting away and didn't notice it was on the radio until I heard Jansen do the screech thing and I started giggling! Then I noticed it was on the radio and that he was doing it just like we do at home when it's just us!!! I had to wait for the next round of the chorus so that G-Pop could hear it!!! So, my dad was fortunate enough to be serenaded by his grandson first!! :oD Now we caught it for you all too!
